Making Safety Training Make Sense

// October 23, 2025

Featured in Crane & Hoist Canada’s September/October Safety Corner, Trenton Grover’s article Making Safety Training Make Sense puts safety training in perspective.

As Trenton states, “good safety training isn’t about checking a box or passing a test. It’s about making sure everyone understands how to work smart, watch out for each other, and stay safe — every day.”

Trenton’s article explores what crane, rigging, and hoisting workers really need with the important message that training cannot be “one-size-fits-all”.

New workers will have different needs than seasoned veterans. A worker’s experience and knowledge and even language barriers can come into play and need to be considered when constructing a good safety program.

From a business perspective, companies care about good training to protect their people from injury, avoid incidents or property damage, and keeping jobs running smoothly.

And let’s not forget that supervisors need training too. Good leadership is a combination of more than just technical skills.
