Lift Planning Template Available

// February 26, 2025

A lift plan is a structured document outlining how a lift will be performed. The plan contains information on the load, crane configuration, rigging details, hazards, communication, and safety controls.

Most importantly, a lift plan ensures everyone involved understands the detailed plan before the lift begins.

BC Crane Safety has developed a new Lift Plan Template. Users can download, customize, and use the template to create your own lift plans.

Be sure to create a lift plan when completing critical lifts and tandem lifts to meet regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Lift plans can also be created for lifts that involve elevated risks such as heavy loads, complex rigging, or when working at congested/urban sites. Some organizations now require lift plans for general crane operations as a best practice.

As a convenience and for quick reference, the template refers and links to relevant sections of the WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR), including OHSR Part 14 Cranes & Hoists, Part 15 Rigging, and applicable site‑safety and electrical hazard requirements.
