BC Crane Safety Outreach Continues
// February 12, 2026
BC Crane Safety field OHS team members Jen Mutas and Trenton Grover have continued to meet with crane industry stakeholders, supporting crane safety by showcasing crane and hoisting safe work practices, crane operator related standards, and resources.
Our 2025 events included:
- multi-day presentations at the Scott Construction Group and Metro-Can Construction Health and Safety Conference
- a lunch and learn for Unitech Construction Management
- a webinar co-presentation with WorkSafeBC on overhead crane safety for the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC, and
- an in-person workshop for Energy Safety Canada in Fort St. John.
Momentum continued and the new year kicked off with a Fresh Start presentation in Fort St. John for SureLine Projects Inc., delivered alongside SkilledTradesBC, WorkSafeBC, and other industry stakeholders, followed by participation in a Rigging Competency Validation Session facilitated by WorkSafeBC.
At the end of January, BC Crane Safety team members went to Edmonton where the University of Calgary hosted multiple industry professionals for the Alberta Rigging & Hoisting Visioning Summit.
On February 27th, Jen and Trenton will present at the BC Construction Safety Alliance Regional Safety Committees (RSC) Safety Series Kickoff Event in Victoria, B.C. It’s free to attend. Register and join us there to learn more about rigging.
Did you know?
Crane operators are responsible for everything below the hook, even with blind lifts or lifts that include the use of a rigger.
Outreach and collaboration activities are set to continue steadily throughout 2026.
Are you an industry stakeholder, owner, prime/general contractor, or any associated trade looking for an outreach session to share knowledge, and support safer crane, rigging, and lifting operations?
Contact us if you would like to learn more about crane and hoisting safety through an online or in-person presentation opportunity.
We now have expanded coverage across B.C. to make it even easier for you to engage with our team.
You can email us at info@bccranesafety.ca to request a session.
