SkillRecord Passport Overview
SkillRecord Passport is the digital record-keeping system for recording and maintaining crane operators’ certification, operating hours, and tracking operational data in the crane industry.
Operators use SkillRecord Passport as a one-stop electronic record-keeping system to:
- Record their qualification, professional status, training, and work experience
- Provide evidence of their certification to employers or WorkSafeBC
Operators can access their electronic logbook and credential information through SkillRecord Passport. The app is free for use under the BC Crane Safety licensing process and available through your app store for Android and iOS.
Use of SkillRecord Passport is compulsory for trainees. Trade qualifiers are required to have their hours signed off in the app by the sponsoring employer.
BC Crane Safety Registration
All tower, mobile, and boom truck crane operators working in British Columbia must be registered with BC Crane Safety and hold the approved certification required for their crane classification. This applies to new operators, including trainees and registered apprentices, as well as experienced operators.
SkillRecord Passport Access
If you hold a B.C. crane operator certification (even if it is expired) you are already registered and do not register again. You can jump ahead to the paragraph with the asterisk (*).
In order to access SkillRecord Passport, you must first submit the BC Crane Safety registration form.
Use a valid email address and provide the requested information. After you submit the registration form, you will receive a verification email from BC Crane Safety. You must click the verification link in that email before BC Crane Safety admin can process your application further.
After BC Crane Safety processes your registration, you will receive an email with your unique BC Crane Safety ID number. A separate SkillRecord Passport invitation email will provide instructions to setup your login credentials for SkillRecord Passport and a link to download the app from the Apple or Google App Store.

*If you’re already registered with BC Crane Safety, search your email (including the Junk folder) for the SkillRecord Passport invitation email.
To log into the SkillRecord Passport mobile app, input the email address you used when registering with BC Crane Safety.
If you have used SkillRecord Passport previously but have forgotten your password, enter the email address you registered with and click “forgot password” to receive a reset link.
Once logged in, you can manage your SkillRecord Passport account, including the electronic logbook, digital credentials, and user guides.
